Google will provide encryption even on cheap phone

Encryption is an important part of the overall security of your data plan, but it's easy to underestimate the added complexity of any service or device. Part of this is the amount of encryption processing needed - the amount that might not be practical on small or low-end devices. Google wants to change it with a new and very effective method called Adiantum.
Google encryption uspotnews

This is the problem. Although encryption is simply about turning one block of data into another, the process is actually quite complicated. Mathematics must be done, data read and written, re-read, rewritten, confirmed and chopped.

For text messages, it's not too difficult. But if you have to do the same thing when you store or take megabytes after megabytes of data, for example with pictures or videos, the extra calculations increase rapidly.

Many smartphones and other modern gadgets are equipped with special chips that run some of the most common algorithms and encryption processes (AES), just as we have a GPU to handle graph calculations in games and the like.

But what about older, cheaper or smarter smart home gadgets that have no room for such things on their boards? Just as they can not run the latest games, they may not be able to efficiently run the latest cryptographic processes. Of course, they can still encrypt objects, but some applications may take too long to run or discharge the battery.

Google, clearly interested in maintaining the competitiveness of low-cost mobile phones, solves this problem by creating a special encryption method for low-power phones. They call it Adiantum, and it will be an optional part of the Android distribution.

Google plus is no longer now by early April 2019

In December 2018, Google announced our decision to close Google+ for consumers in April 2019 due to the low usage and challenges associated with maintaining a high-performance product that meets consumer expectations. We'd like to thank you for being part of Google+ and providing you with the following steps, including how to upload your photos and other content.

On April 2nd, your Google+ account and any Google+ pages you've created will be closed and Google will start removing content from Google + consumer accounts. Google+ photos and videos in your album archives and Google+ pages will also be deleted. You can download and save your content, but be sure to do so before April. Keep in mind that photos and videos saved in Google Photos will not be deleted.

The process of deleting consumer content - Google + accounts, Google+ pages and Album archives will take several months and content may persist during this time. For example, users can still see parts of their Google+ account through the activity log, and some consumer-Google + content may remain visible to G Suite users until consumer-Google + users will deleted.

Starting Feb. 4, you will not be able to create new Google+ profiles, pages, communities, or events. See the full FAQ for more information and updates before closing.

If you own or moderated a Google+ community, you can download and save your data for your Google+ community. As of March 2019, additional data is available for download, including the author, body text, and photos for each community publication in a public community. Learn more

If you sign in to sites and apps using the Google+ sign in button, these buttons will not work in the next few weeks, but may in some cases be replaced by a Google sign-in button. You can always sign in with your Google Account wherever you see Google Sign In buttons. Learn more

If you've used Google+ for comments on your own site or other sites, this feature will be removed from Blogger on February 4th and the other sites on March 7th. All your Google+ comments on all sites will be deleted as of April 2, 2019. Learn More

If you are a G Suite customer, Google+ must remain active for your G Suite account. Contact your G Suite administrator for more information. You can also expect a new look and new features soon. Learn more

If you're a developer using Google+ APIs or Google+, click here to see its impact.

From everyone in the Google+ team, thank you for making Google+ so special. We are grateful to the group of talented artists, community builders and opinion leaders who have come to their homes. It would not have been the same without your passion and dedication.

Now blur background in Skype

With the launch of WhatsApp and other free phone and messaging applications, Skype is no longer a vital service for many people. But the company has added new features that appeal to users.

Recently added to Microsoft Services is a screen blur, so it's a good idea to hide cluttered rooms or other backgrounds and not show them to others.

Skype explained that this feature, similar to the blur effect added to the Microsoft team last year, uses artificial intelligence to focus on callers. It also detects features such as hair, hands, and arms.

Not all devices are supported yet, but features are available on Skype for desktop, web, and mobile. You can enable it in Settings..
